System Failure. Please Restart.
Featured in MozFest 2021
Our systems, structures, objects and places are built and enmeshed in ongoing chains of bias and inequality. In this exhibition, developed with the Creative Emergent Technology Institute, 42 artists dismantle, critique, interpret the call to reinvent the future through their chosen medium, to design for justice and for community – to help reimagine and create a more hopeful future.
Created as an Abandoned Mall with the exhibitions as the remnants and artifacts, the gallery spaces conjure up feelings of ruin and desolation–particularly in the wake of social distancing and forsaken retail shops. There is an eerie yet obvious suggestion that old systems focused on consumption and material use are obsolete and need to be repurposed for the future.
